Green Tea Popular For Taste, Health Benefits

Over the last decade, the popularity of green tea has soared. Long a favorite of tea drinkers citing its abudance of antioxidants, researchers now point to other benefits as well.

Green tea, seeped from the camellia sinesis leaf, boosts the immune system, acts as a safe diuretic, promotes digestion, improves heart health and concentration. Research shows it reduces the risk of
coronary artery disease by lowing total cholesterol and raising the “good” HDL (high-density lipoprotein) cholesterol. Green tea is also said to lower the risk of many cancers. A recent study published in the medical journal Carcinogenesis suggests that green tea suppresses the growth of tumors in lung cancer patients.
